Two of American Airlines’ co-branded Citi credit cards feature some key increases in their welcome bonuses. Specifically, the Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select World Elite MasterCard, and the CitiBusiness version – the AAdvantage Platinum Select World MasterCard.
Of the two, the one with the most intriguing welcome offer is the CitiBuisness version.
70,000 Welcome Bonus Miles
This is obviously the biggest advantage. It’s contingent upon spending at least $4000 within four months of activation, but customers who do will have enough bonus miles to fly one way to some great overseas destinations, including, South America, the Middle East/India, Europe, or even Asia. Very rarely will a single card provide such a large bonus.
The First Annual Fee is on Them
Okay, so it’s $95 – not unreasonable – but the first year’s fee is waived, so there’a not a lot of risk involved, there.
Won’t Hurt Approval Chances with Chase
Certain Chase cards require customers to pass a what’s called a 5/24 test in order to be approved. What this means is that if they see five or more cards opened on a credit report within the past 24 months, they won’t approve the application. As a business card, the CitiBank AAdvantage Platinum Select World MasterCard doesn’t apply to that rule, though – another rather large perk for this card.
Citi AAdvantage Personal Cards Do Not Affect Eligibility
Usually, with personal cards, there is a restriction on bonus mile eligibility if the applicant already has, or has opened and closed one within the past 24 months. However, with this card, having a Citi AAdvantage personal card will not affect the applicant’s eligibility for the bonus miles.
Big Baggage and Boarding Perks
Sometimes the best perks aren’t related to miles or eligibility. Sometimes they’re the perks received at the airport. With this card customers get preferred boarding on domestic flights from American – just for being a cardholder. Also, customers and up to four companions get their first bags checked for free. This could provide up to $250 in roundtrip savings for a party of five.
Customers looking for huge travel perks in a credit card should look no further as offers like this don’t come along very often.
